Ball, Arrow technology may let paralized race-car driver hit 100 again

Nothing has felt normal for Sam Schmidt since a race-car accident left him paralyzed from the collarbone down nearly 15 years ago.

But two Colorado companies and a neurosurgeon from Craig Hospital have teamed to give the former professional driver a chance to speed around the racetrack again — during Indianapolis 500 festivities this month, with the hope of encouraging future innovation in adaptive technology.
